We are teachers, counselors, parents, motivators, role models and mentors who run grassroots basketball teams across the country. Our mission is not only to inspire young people to become better basketball players, but it also to help them realize their dream of a college education. Jackie Robinson may have said it best, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” We strive to help make a positive impact on kids’ lives through our efforts. Unfortunately, this is not how we have been portrayed by the NCAA and some members of the media. This is our opportunity to tell our REAL story.

We are grassroots basketball, and we’re damn proud of it!

Save Summer Hoops!

Matthew Pauls tells his story…

This is a story of love - love for the game of basketball, for getting in the gym, on the road, and in the lives of many young men who are in need.  I have been doing this for many years, and on a weekly basis I get a thank you email, text, or message from one of the young men that my colleagues and I have helped.  But for summer hoops, I don't know where some of these young men would have ended up.  And from my perspective, I have probably learned as much, if not more, from the young men I have coached and guided.  Summer hoops has instilled a sense of purpose in many people - coaches, kids, and families.  I will end with this; there are two young men, non-players, who joined our program during a difficult time in their respective lives when they needed something to help guide them.  They have both become VERY well respected recruiting/scouting gurus in a short amount of time, and SUMMER HOOPS via our program helped them find purpose and direction. That story, combined with dozens of student-athlete successes, makes it clear to me that good things are happening in SUMMER HOOPS.  Let's keep it going!
